Merida

We felt completely safe in Merida. We Loved visiting and shopping and being part of the culture. On the last night, we came across Hernandez. We had a great visit. He saw that we were interested in the Friday festivities and I am sure he saw us as a potential customer but it was so fun to talk to him. Hé was from À Mayan village . He slept in a hammock in a thatched roof and wood walls. He was married with two Kids. On the weekends he went home with a group but worked Monday through Friday in Merida selling the goods that his family made during the week. I was intrigued and I was not through talking to him so I asked where à good place to ray was. I asked him to join us. Hé said hé would show us. The funny thing was that he took us to the exact same place the others went, including our tour guide. When they saw us with them, they thought for sure he would take advantage of us or worse. We said we were fine. They were worried...as they were leaving, they asked if they should stay.  It was great. We had a good visit and we got to practice up on our spanish. We let him show us his family shop. He didnt ask for a thing. his cousin showed us around. He had great Hammocks but we already had one.  We talked a little about the church with his cousin and hopefully we planted a seed...we got a late phone call from Marsha just to make sure we were safe...we loved that!
